Great Limpopo Cycle Tour

Following in the footsteps of its famous elephants, the Great Limpopo Cycle Trail, a 5-night, 4-day cycling event covering 240km, will take a select field of 64 riders on an epic journey through the heart of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area (GLTFCA). Adventure into the remote Pafuri wilderness of northern Kruger National Park, the Sengwe-Tshipise Corridor and the Gonarezhou National Park, whilst bringing a generous return to the communities involved.

Riders – split into groups of eight – will be accompanied by trained conservationists and field guides. The daily stages will explore the Makuleke Area in South Africa, venture across the Limpopo River into the Sengwe-Tshipise Corridor and into southern Gonarezhou in Zimbabwe. Each day will have a lunch stop where the riders can relax and take in their surroundings without rushing to get to their destination. Each night, participants will be housed in accommodation ranging from luxury tents to rustic camp sites. The event – not a race but an adventure trail – will take place in June 2018 and will showcase the outstanding features of the transfrontier region – its rich cultural history (distant and recent), astonishing biodiversity, pristine wilderness, remote communities, communal lands, spectacular scenery and Big Five territory. The trail will raise funds to alleviate the negative impacts of human wildlife interaction, nurture conservation and grow tourism in the heart of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area, including the little visited but pivotal link of the Sengwe-Thipise Corridor.

There are only 64 entries for the Great Limpopo Cycle Trail.

16 riders will depart each day in two groups of 8, making this a one of a kind, exclusive mountain biking event.
