Dineo: Pafuri After the Storm

Tropical storm Dineo was expected to bring devastation and flooding to Pafuri. The storm passed overhead but left nothing more than brimming pans, replenished aquafers and swollen rivers in its wake. Heading into the winter months, Dineo has been a blessing after the drought experienced in late 2016.

Godfrey Baloyi: Cool bananas

From high school teacher to field guide – a natural fit! Tinyiko Godfrey Baloyi was born and bred in the Makuleke community. He completed his education at Shingwedzi College of Education in 1988. Due to lack of employment opportunities in teaching at that time he swapped teaching for guiding and found his calling not least due to the similarities between guiding and teaching.

This trail is not for the inexperienced. You should have completed previous multi-day hikes, spent some time in wilderness areas, meet the fitness recommendations and be 18 years or older.

Return Africa reserves the right to interview prospective participants and accept only those it believes are capable of completing this trail.

Due to the safety requirement of sitting watch at night on the slack-packing section, the trail requires 8 guests.
